Blind Lobbyist Seeks Normal Perception in Politics
California lobbyist Lynda Bardis, 29, who is totally blind, argues that society must stop sheltering the blind and use ordinary words like see and look. Raised in Berkeley, she earned a French degree, works on 5,000 member California council and NAACW lobbying, and travels Capitol offices aided by braille materials. She hopes to expand into health care and social services while fighting stereotypes and ensuring access to movies, dining and social events, despite readers and editors focusing on her disability.
