Carter outlines talks on a worldwide ban on nuclear testing

Engine fire aborts LA bound DC10 at Logan Airport

More than 200 passengers evacuated after a fire in a tail engine delayed the Los Angeles bound American Airlines DC10 at Logan International. Forty five passengers and 12 crew were treated for injuries, mostly minor from sliding emergency chutes. The fire was extinguished within a minute and no cabin fire occurred. The flight was rescheduled and 152 passengers remained aboard upon departure.

Postal Service Says Customs Will Continue Opening Mail

Washington AP reported that despite opposition from lawmakers the Postal Service will keep allowing customs agents to open letters from abroad. The hearing cited past violations and proposed new rules while stressing that mail privacy remains at issue as debates over legality and enforcement continue.
