Deteriorating 13th Bridge to Be Replaced by New Span

The third bridge, completed in 1831, faced frailty until Parliament authorized a replacement in 1821 and finished a decade later. A city report says the 134 year old span is settling at a rate of an inch every eight years and developing cracks, but will stay in service until the new bridge is completed.
