Vacation colleges draw families for learning summers

Families spend summer at college camps with lectures seminars and activities for all ages. Cornell Michigan and other schools report growing interest with 60 to 70 institutions offering programs. Prices run about 500 to 600 for a family of four. Michigan opens Aug 14 with adult seminars, and children’s activities. The Cornell program, in its 10th year, enrolls about 900 adults and 400 children across four weeklong terms.

States Off GM Settlement Averts Deception Case

Ohio Attorney General William J. Brown, leading 39 state offices, proposed a settlement with General Motors over 1977 Oldsmobile engines at issue in a deception suit. The deal offers full purchase price minus five cents a mile up to 500 or a $500 cash plus a 36,000 mile three year warranty if owners keep the car.
