Miss Ann Gargan, President's cousin, joined the Kennedy party aboard Caroline the family plane. Dr Henry Betts from the institute and hospital nurses were aboard, along with longtime Kennedy nurse Miss wella Hennessey awaiting at home. An elevator was installed in the large house used by the former ambassador each summer, and a heated swimming pool suitable for therapy was added to the lawn.

Riot at mental hospital ends with minimal disturbances

A riot at a self contained maximum security ward left the facility quiet for three hours with one minor disturbance quickly subdued. Authorities said escape was nearly impossible as armed officers ringed the building. No patients were believed to have firearms. improvised weapons were furniture pieces. Hospital administrator R. B. Baylor cited general dissatisfaction among ward patients as the riot’s cause.
