Three Bills Offered To Help State Areas With Road, Street Problems
A trio of Virginia Senate bills aims to aid localities with road and street issues. Sponsored by Sen. E E Willey of Richmond and colleagues, one bill would let the State Highway Department take over road condemnation for cities upon request, another sets a $1000 per mile annual payment for secondary street upkeep, and a third lets smaller towns opt to draw state funds for street maintenance. Additional measures seek alcohol treatment reforms and hospital cooperation with Alcoholics Anonymous, while the House contemplates borrowing for capital projects and curbing the State Milk Commission.
