Carter says Gavin under consideration for CIA director

President Carter said he has not decided on a CIA director and Gavin has been suggested by House Speaker Tip ONeill. Senator Church had said Gavin was under consideration, while Carter noted a prior nominee withdrew amid questions surrounding classified documents and Kennedy-era ties. Gavin, 76, chairs Arthur D. Little and is a West Point graduate who led Army research and commanded the 82nd Airborne during D Day.
