College Building For Danville And State Park For Pittsylvania

Measures in the Richmond General Assembly seek a new classroom library office building for Danville VPI Community College and a state park for Pittsylvania County. An emergency $610,000 local college building appropriation advances in the House, with start possible this spring. George Buck Wilson, 53, of 656 Cardinal Place Apt. 1, Danville, died Friday at Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. Born November 11, 1912 in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of the late Archer Wilson and Annie Norton Wilson. He worked for Holland Furnace Co. before becoming disabled and was a member of East Thomas Street Baptist Tabernacle. Cabin Occupant Held As Stolen Money Receiver

ASHEVILLE AP An occupant of a mountain cabin near Weaverville was charged with receiving stolen money in a bank robbery case. Mrs. Rena Sherlin, 52, of Weaverville Rt. 2, faces federal accessory charges related to the January 12 heist at First Union National Bank's West Asheville branch, where about $6,972 was taken at gunpoint. Detained with her husband, Oliver Sherlin, and others, the investigation recovered funds in several locations including $141 hidden in cabin walls. Bond set at $10,000 for Sherlin. Carver and Miller each $25,000. Edna Carver $10,000.

In Fremont North Carolina the defendant Warren Fowler also known as Johnny Graham testified that an officer shot Braswell accidentally during a jail scuffle.
