Ins and Outs of Painting a Room in 1973
Barbara A Curry offers home painting guidance with step by step tips. Wear patient, protective clothing. Start with prep like filling cracks, washing greasy surfaces, and scraping loose paint. Paint ceilings first, walls next, and save doors windows and baseboards for last. Use rollers for flat areas and brushes for tight spots. Work across the room, cover edges with cloths, and avoid overreaching from ladders. If necessary, apply a second coat to thin or show-through areas, but stop if exhausted. Floors present unique challenges and may be tackled in halves with wear resistant paints suitable for cement linoleum or wood.
