Chicago nursing home fire claims at least fifteen

Fire at Wincrest Nursing and Rest Home on Chicago's North Side killed fifteen people and left several others hospitalized in critical condition. A 21 year old substitute housekeeper is charged with murder and arson. A second nursing home fire in five days prompted state investigators to search for the origin as patients inhaled smoke. Charles Ambroz, 65, described escaping in a wheelchair and witnessing others' suffering as responders arrived.

House to debate natural gas price controls proposal

The measure, deemed germane by the House parliamentarian, will be taken up when the House resumes debate on natural gas Thursday. It would free about 3,500 independent producers from price controls if they release gas for the interstate market and avoid handing it to major producers.
