Syndication Pays Off for Merv Griffin
Merv Griffin credits syndication for rapid success of The Merv Griffin Show, now on 65 stations and reaching about 85 percent of U S viewers. The program competes with NBCs Tonight Show, shares guest pools and audience type, and Griffin runs his empire from two offices while hosting Jeopardy and owning radio stations. Griffin emphasizes flexible scheduling, hands on planning with his team, and a businesslike approach to talent and guests.
