AT&T Abides by Subpoenas on Reporters Call Records
AT&T told editors and reporters it must disclose reporters call records when lawfully subpoenaed or requested by government agencies. The company rejected advance notice to customers, saying it should not arbitrate government citizen disputes and urging notification to agencies instead. AT&T said it supports press freedom while complying with law and proposed that government agencies bear notification duties, not the records holders.

All Aliens Must File Addresses
Aliens in the United States must report their addresses to the INS during January, per district director Lewis D. Barton. Exclusions include diplomats and accredited international organization personnel. Reports can be submitted via a simple card obtained at post offices or INS offices, with a stamp on the card’s reverse. Guardians must report for children under 14. Barton notes that many aliens are eligible for naturalization and that the address program often boosts naturalization applications by up to 30 percent in Jan through March.
