Pittsylvania ADC Study Reveals Demographics and Levels
Virginia Welfare study of Pittsylvania County ADC recipients shows 567 families receiving aid as of Sept 30, 80 percent of adults are black, 54 percent lack high school education, and 96 percent of families are headed by females. Most children are 5 to 17. 82 percent have no income outside government aid.

Empty Stocking Fund Drive Falls Short By $5,000
Danville Jaycees raised slightly over $10,000 of a $15,000 goal in the five hour Empty Stocking Fund Drive to aid about 1,000 needy children plus elderly residents. Donations continue to be accepted.
