Hunters Told Chance Of Getting Lost In Virginia Northeast
Virginia mountain deer season sees two hunters reported lost in two weeks prompting safety advice from Game Commission Officer James N. Kerrick. A 66 year old man failed to return opening day in Craig County and a veteran woman hunter missed rendezvous on the second Monday. Searchers at times numbered 100 or more. Kerrick urged hunters to tell someone their planned route and return time and suggested staying put or following a stream downhill to reach safety. He warned against panic and crossing ridgelines between terrain areas.
