Pittsylvania County School Board approves guarantee of extra funding to cover construction costs for the vocational technical school at Dry Fork. John W. Daniel & Co. of Danville named apparent low bidder at 2,738,000 with total project cost near 2.35 million after added costs. Financing includes EDA grant, Literary Fund loan, local funds, and Vocational Education Act funds. W L Wade Jr. Funeral at Glenwood Memorial Baptist Church with burial in Highland Burial Park. Henry Apple 68 of 127 Warren Street died Monday in Memorial Hospital after brief illness. Survived by wife Viola Harrison Apple two daughters and two sons. Jacob Hayes Dameron died Saturday night in Memorial Hospital of Danville funeral today at Wrenn Yeatts Chapel with burial in Greenview Cemetery. Born May 16 1899 in Boone County Kentucky son of James B and Mary Belle Dameron survived by wife Flora Barnes Dameron a daughter and a son seven grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Terry Elijah Irby 77 of Spring Street died Monday at 6 059 m. Retired Burlington Industries employee born in Pittsylvania County July 9 1900. Survived by seven nieces. Funeral Wednesday at New Prospect Baptist Church burial in Altavista Memorial Park. Finch and Finch Funeral Home to receive callers Tuesday 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral for Willie Walters Held at Ebeneza Baptist Church
The funeral for Willie Walters of 129 Davis St. was held today at Ebeneza Baptist Church in Providence North Carolina with Rev. Ferrell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Walters died Sunday at The Memorial Hospital of Danville after a long illness. He was the son of the late Henry Walters and Margaret Haley Walters. Survived by wife Modell Frice Walters, daughter Savannah W Gillespie, sons Jesse Walters Roosevelt Walters and Henry Walters, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harvey's Funeral Home handled arrangements. The family will be at the residence.

Rt 58 Crash Injures Danville Man Near Airport
A Danville area man was seriously injured after his vehicle sideswiped a car near Highway 729 and rear ended a tractor trailer on Rt. 58 east near the Danville Municipal Airport. The driver suffered multiple fractures and lacerations as traffic backed up for about a mile while responders treated him. Hospital name held pending family notification.
