Danville Public Schools Open After Short Vacation
Attendance at Danville’s 17 public schools totaled 36 fewer than last year’s first day 10 222 as some pupils remained away on vacation. Superintendent O T Bonner expects slightly higher overall enrollment this year despite the slower start and notes Grove Park Elementary shows the only obvious overcrowding. The census suggests the postwar baby boom is reaching high school and elementary enrollments should level or dip.
