Danville Tobacco Market Tops $1 Million in 1975 Sale
The Danville Old Belt market sold 1,059,711 pounds for $1,007,366.55 with an average of $95.06, the first 1975 million dollar sale, as prices rose and quality improved. Petersburg and South Boston posted near highs, while NO-G tobacco weighed down earlier averages. Other Old Belt centers included Martinsville Roxboro and Winston-Salem with solid totals and averages.

Funeral for 12 year old Carlton Haskins set today
A funeral for Carlton Haskins of 321 Stephens Street Apt. 3 will be held today at 4 p.m. at Swicegood Chapel with Rev. Bates and Rev. Vance. Burial follows at Danville Memorial Gardens. Haskins, fatally shot by a rifle at 362 Chatelaine Avenue Sunday night, is survived by his parents, siblings, and grandparents. Police have charged Bobby Ray Huffman, 19, of 640 Edmonds Street with the shooting.
