Engineer Presumed Dead In Derailed Coal Train
A Clinchfield Railroad engineer is missing and presumed dead after a coal train derailed in a remote Virginia gorge near Waycross. Two other crew members were injured. one, Tony Hensley of Erwin, underwent surgery in Kingsport, Tennessee, and James Larry Furchest was treated and released. The derailment occurred about a mile from the Tennessee line with at least 22 cars damaged and coal and at least one beer car ejected.
