Strong of Johns Hopkins proposed that Venus’s dark side stays nearly as warm as the bright side as water vapor in high clouds freezes into snow, releasing heat. Balloon-based observations with infrared spectrometry helped identify ice crystals in Venusian clouds. Other speakers outlined Mars and Venus atmospheric theories amid about 230 attendees at the NASA coordinated event sponsored by NASA, the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratory and Virginia Tech.
