B52s Help Viet Fighters in Latest South Vietnam Raids

U S and South Vietnamese forces sent heavy air and ground strikes in response to a fresh surge of North Vietnamese attacks across South Vietnam. Reports described 88 enemy assaults in 24 hours, with major fighting near Duy Xuyên and Dong Hoi, while U S B52s dropped thousands of tons on targets in North and South Vietnam. Casualties and damage were tallied as U S and Vietnamese troops tried to blunt the renewed onslaught and deter a broader political campaign by Hanoi, with ongoing withdrawals and strategic repositioning around Da Nang and Marble Mountain.
