Episcopal Church Tour Highlights Historic Lynchburg Design
A 1935 Daily Crossword Puzzle funding led to a new church across from the parish house on Yaney Street and North Main Street. Groundbreaking in 1964 by Bishop Gunn, the church cost 185000 with architect J Everette Fauber, featuring old church inspired brickwork, acoustical plaster walls, slate roof, and a wine glass pulpit. The organ, a gift from Penick family relatives, drew praise from Dr. James Darling. A luncheon tour follows with homes on Garrard Harris Penick Edmondson and Conner streets. Ticket chair is Mrs Enoch Haley. tickets sold at local shops.
