Redfield begins with a special train carrying the Dakota Central party including Nichell and nine commissioners headed toward Frankfort and Huron. The group inspects land for the state capital, notes women refuse wine at dinner, and praises local hospitality. The report lists names Hughes through Spaulding and secretary Wheelock, with plans to reach Pierre by daylight and an upcoming temperance push led by Dr Denton and N. E. Reed in Redfield praised for their speeches.
For sale listings include one lot on Dakota avenue adjoining Wheeler's drug store and two lots on Nebraska street near the schoolhouse. Inquiries at the Wright House. Also notices of 71 21 Isaac F. Moore and a Wheeler’s Punch Cigar boom. Keeler Herron drug store advertises pure drugs and plat books at Pioneer store with horses and mules for sale on 3d street in Huron. Wheeler's Pioneer Cigar advertised.
Beadle county deeded lands and town property abstracts provided by Orms by Graves & Co. Local notices mention a Boston Restaurant offer of a square meal for 25 cents and a late night service at Wheeler's Open Night Drug Store. Garden seeds advertised at Wheeler's Pioneer Store. Spelling and phrasing are garbled with unclear names and figures.
