Semi official advices place General Crook in Zar ruarpea district southeast of Sonora on May 29 and report no engagements yet. Mexican scouts with Crook met him 350 miles from the boundary at a large rancho as they tracked scattered hostiles. Crook planned to intercept in the mountains while pushing into the Sierra Madres southward.

Mob Hangs Barber Brothers After Jail Siege
In Waverly Iowa a mob of about two hundred stormed the jail at 9 o’clock last night. They battered doors with sledges and crow bars, forced confessions from Will and Ike Barber, and hanged them at midnight. The sheriff was unable to prevent the attack. The mob’s leader was later captured.
