Ward brothers funeral after north Dakota land claim killings
The remains of Frederick A. Ward and Charles F. Ward arrived in Chicago after being killed by a land claim party in northwestern Dakota. Funeral services were held at the Church of the Redeemer with the casket of Fred Ward carried by six officers from the Illinois National Guard. The processional was unusually large given the tragedy and the deceaseds wide circle of acquaintances.
