Fremont teen charged in sniper shooting case
Sixteen year old David Stites of Dewey Place was charged with attempted munter in the sniper shooting of Michael Fichhorn as he walked home. He was turned over to juvenile authorities and court arraignment is planned by Tuesday. The injured boy, age 11, was improving at Washington Hospital, showing good spirits and some regained vision as doctors work to remove the bullet near his left temple. Police traced the incident to a staged confession by the youth who claimed he fired at a figure crossing the street after taking his father's rifle from a locked cabinet. The suspect has no prior police record.
