LA CRESCENTA UPI an apparent prank at Hamentary School Monday escalated to a bomb scare when a student offered a hand grenade to a teacher. The principal ordered evacuation and the LA County Sheriff's bomb squad removed a real looking grenade that was later deemed not live. The student said he obtained the device from a young cousin.
Speaker Thomas P. O'Neill said Congress will produce a strong energy bill despite Senate setbacks. He warned the House will be rigid as it moves to a conference to reconcile differences. President Carter urged opposition to oil and gas lobby pressure in the White House press room.
