County records system costs millions for local agencies

County taxpayers spend about 1.8 million annually on a unified records system used by Alameda County enforcement agencies and other city bodies. The system, called Crimeon Records Production Unified System, runs most of the time and aims to improve access and efficiency across multiple agencies.

Carter challenges Senate on energy bill veto threat

President Carter warned he would veto any energy bill that lifts federal price controls on natural gas while Senate leaders debate deregulation. He argued the plan would add about 20 billion dollars to Alaska gas costs and urged colleagues to stay until the issue is resolved. Carter campaigned in Virginia with Henry Howell, drawing 9,000 to 4,000 supporters and pledging gradual deregulation coupled with new reserves incentives.

Fremont Pathfinder Days Parade Dazzles 20 000 Crowd

A sunny Fremont crowd of over 20000 witnessed the 1977 Pathfinder Days parade with cowboys Indians witches clowns and floats. Grand marshals Rosalyn and Marilyn Boren Twins rode in VIP stands beside Mayor Gene Rhodes as city officials and spectators enjoyed bands novelty entries and spectacle along the route.

The CIA conducted a 1956 to 1960s project codenamed Subproject 63 of MKULTHA to study alcohol’s effects and barroom behavior. Researchers, aided by two-way mirrors and cameras, frequented lounges across the country to observe patrons, with a fully equipped test bar and entertainment, part of a multimillion-dollar effort lasting decades.
