Bishop removes Livermore priest from pastorate

The Catholic Diocese of Oakland says Bishop Floyd Begin has transferred Rev. John Dallard from St Charles Borromeo in Livermore to a new assignment in a routine move. Dallard’s parishioners allege the action targets his fundamentalist charismatic preaching. Rev. Richard Mangini will succeed Dallard temporarily, before taking over at St Leander’s in San Leandro on November 5, according to a diocese spokesman.

Alameda County moves to take over Citizens Utilities water system

The Alameda County Water District announced the planned takeover of Citizens Utilities water system between Oct 1 and Oct 12. The district will connect the two systems in Decoto Union City, with customers expecting only gradual water quality improvements for about six months as lines are flushed.
