Gas station closings despite Phase IV price controls continue
Alameda County and neighboring areas faced a broad shutdown of more than 85 percent of gasoline stations as dealers protest Phase IV price ceilings. Traffic on freeways remained light, with bridges reporting reduced volumes. AC Transit noted no major ridership rise except for the Oakland to Berkeley football game, which saw about 400 buses carrying 23,485 fans. Some stations like Holland Oil and a Castro Valley Standard remained closed to avoid allotment limits, with plans to reopen Tuesday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. until ceilings are lifted.
