Good morning update lists San Leandro Festival of the Arts performer Malaika El-Saada with a dance segment by El isken dereya scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Saturday calendar.
A concert at the Alameda County Fair begins at noon today with bass music by the Homestead Act and blues by John Lee Hooker Charlie Musselwhite and Luther Tucker. Magicians anders perform between acts and a jam session follows. Tickets are 74.00 at the gate.
The Newark Days Arts and Crafts Fair runs this weekend at the Newark Community Center on 35501 Cedar Blvd Newark. Hours today are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m with art in action booths featured throughout the venue.

US District Judge Oliver J. Carter ordered Patty Hearst held without bond noting her 18 months as a fugitive and history suggesting flight risk. Prosecutors described weapons found in her home and a recorded occupation as urban guerrilla while Hearst pressed her mother after the hearing.
Ernestine Wiseman of the Hayward Daily Review won the Vesta Award from the American Meat Institute for three food pages including a recipe compilation a feature on Japanese food and a family fish page. The Daily Review entry also won in 1970. The award honors service to readers nutrition information and use of illustrations. The presentation will occur at the Food Editors Conference in Chicago on Oct. 5.
