Niles Highway Crash Hurts 4
Four people were injured in a Saturday morning crash on U S 50 near Santa Rita when a car driven by Vietia Jewell S. Moser 45 of Santa Rita was struck from behind by Floyd Capps 38 of Livermore at 1 28 am. Moser died at Fairmont hospital minutes after the collision which left the vehicles on the westbound shoulder and sparked a grass fire. Capps, who said he blacked out, escaped unharmed as fire crews extinguished the blaze. The accident marked Alameda County’s 50th traffic fatality this year and third this month.

Atomic attack from carrier possible disclosed by naval chief
Adm William Fechteler told reporters the navy trained crews for atomic bomb attacks from carriers and could launch land based planes with A bombs.
