Crews finished removing several dozen dead bass, striped bass, and perch from Aquatic Park in Berkeley. Officials cited oxygen deficiency from warm, low tides and algae blooms as the likely cause. City Manager William Hanley said industrial pollution is unlikely due to drains in the area.
An eight year old boarder, Chrispin Yntrepido, died while attempting to rescue bedridden Mrs Belly Wyatt during a fire in San Francisco's Mission District. The loss came as Mrs Wyatt, her husband Hayes, and son Gregory, aged years, also faced danger. the husband and son survived after flames kept them from escape. Police connected to the Brown homicide case revealed brothers Thomas and Ronnie Brown argued over company involvement. Thomas was shot and killed in a car with Thomas Simmons, Daly City, linked to the homicide investigation.
A Richwood man Earl Butcher and his wife Hubert were killed in a headon crash half a mile east of a Contra Costa town. Their 3 year old son Jeffrey was seriously burned with a fractured leg and head injuries. Injured in the other car were Jesus Da 36 Berkeley, Autopia 4, and their six month old Benacio with gasoline burns more than half the body. The 3 year old Tony had no injuries. The Bucale car headed downhill while the Aranda car went up the hill crossing the double yellow line.
A death by own action victim's heart and kidneys were transplanted Sunday at Stanford University Hospital. Joslyn, a Seattle resident, received the heart from the anonymous donor. Kidney recipients included Robert Green, 22, of San Jose, and James Santos, 48, of Mountain View. All three patients were reported in satisfactory condition.
College registration for Chabol College Livermore evening courses continues with limited openings. Coordinator Edward A Hart urges late registrants to enroll tonight at Granada High School 00 Wall St Livermore. Notable classes with vacancies include Introduction to Aeronautics Technics and Reproduction Typing and Introduction to Music.

San Leandro Unified trustees meet at 7 30 pm at 431 West Joaquin Avenue to review progress on student representation goals and guidelines. They will hear a report on weekly clemency teacher periods and Urban Studies Project participation, and consider a letter from Henry Boyce seeking reconsideration of a trustees action and stronger student input.
SANTA CRUZ AP A Boulder Creek man, 29 year old Robert B Moore, was killed Sunday while cutting fireseed in the Santa Cruz Mountains about 15 miles north of Santa Cruz. A coroner investigator said Moore was sawing a log on a makeshift saw horse when the log rolled and pinned him. he had been dead about an hour when motorcyclists found him with the log on his chest.
BEREEBEY AP An attorney for enlisted men who claim brutal beatings in the Tremistre Istid Naval Base brig say guard conduct continues despite a court order. Donald Jelinek will ask Judge William Sweigert to hold specific guards in contempt of the order to prevent assaulting plaintiffs and others. A hearing was ordered to show cause why a preliminary injunction should not be issued. Witnesses said beatings occurred minutes after service of the order, with accounts of a 260 pound guard beating a prisoner and repeated kicks after collapse during physical training. Government and Navy officials offered no comment. Only one of the original plaintiffs remains in the naval correctional center.
Remont AP reports Pomona College president David Alexander argues college should be a place of learning not a launchpad for community action programs. He notes controversy over racial integration at Southwestern and defends strict academic standards while seeking liberal learning and cautious engagement with students and faculty.
AP report says a car carrying five young men left the road on the east side of Santa Hosa Sunday. One passenger, Paul Norman Dorsey, 26, Santa Rosa, died. A 19 year old from Vallejo and the other three occupants suffered minor injuries.
Edward Brenner of Palo Alto was shot by a San Mateo County deputy while fleeing on foot after a $351 robbery at Ray Jone's Liquor Store. Brenner, in critical condition at Stanford Medical Center, was shot in the back as Harold Graham, 18, East Palo Alto, was arrested on a robbery charge. Deputy Richard Hansen said Brenner ignored commands and drew a .22 pistol before the deputy fired.
Deputies said 32 year old Raymond Andrews threatened to kill his wife and fired at officials from a playhouse fort in a gun duel Sunday night. Officers returned fire after Andrews refused to surrender as his children ran to a neighbor for help.

He speaks at a City Hall ceremony with Mayor Allato, attends a luncheon at the DeYoung Museum, and his remarks emphasize Mexico’s long history and cultural ties to California as crowds cheer Calle Mexico and raise the Mexican flag.
Coast Guard planes and boats comb waters off the California Oregon coast seeking two overdue fishing vessels last heard August. The 41 foot Lev Sob from Oakland with Dr. Harold Losenthal and passenger Dick Vierta aboard and the 38 foot Jute Ann of Newport Oregon were last seen near Crescent City after radio contact was lost. A three day search resumed with Coast Guard air sea units checking ports and nearby waters.
The California State Colleges auditorium issues a uniform campus conduct guide to fall registrants outlining disciplinary grounds. The code lists dozens of violations including physical abuse, unauthorized entry, obstructing college operations, obscene behavior, drug use, and possession of weapons, with enforcement by campus officials.
