A community preschool for children ages 3 years 9 months to 5 years 9 months will begin Monday at Village Baptist Church in Chase and Bockman Streets. Mrs Leaige Vandergrift of Hayward will conduct lessons from 3 to 11 30 am with a $7 monthly fee per pupil. Mothers must supervise a five hour weekly mini session. UNION CITY Antone Santos longtime Alvarado resident and tavern owner and service station operator died after a long illness. Requiem Mass will be held at St. Ann's Church Alvarado burial at Mary Sepulchre Cemetery Hayward. Ex-Bookkeeper Pleads Innocent in Grand Theft Case
Gerald Myrick, 39, of Hayward, former bookkeeper for Svem Seolt Electric Co. in San Leandro, pleaded innocent to grand theft involving $2919. He surrendered on a warrant from Troy Scott, owner of Use Firm, and is free on $2500 bail awaiting an Oct. 30 preliminary hearing.

Driver Sentenced in Fatal Russell County Crash
Carlse Butler, age 2, of 25971 Saklin Rd Hayward, was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail for misdemeanor manslaughter after his car tore through a Russell County home, killing two teenage passengers. Femina Jare Fields, 16, and Charlene Early, 14, both of Hayward, died in the crash yesterday.

Minor Injuries In Car Mishap Near Fremont
Three teen riders escaped serious harm when their 1938 car went out of control on Calgaras Dam Road about five miles east of Highway 880. Donald Gallet, 16, said he drove between 50 and 55 mph, skidded 120 feet, and tore 150 feet of roadside fence before the car stopped. Ronnie Patrick and Nicholas Bradley, both 15, sustained minor injuries after being thrown from the backseat. Gallet was uninjured.

Baker Oregon police say archabald, a 20 year old ex convict from Toy Utah, confessed to killing 17 year old Larry Waters at a Livermore gas stall.
