Retirement of San Leandro chamber chief ends 26 year love affair

Frank King, longtime San Leandro Chamber of Commerce manager, announces retirement next January after 26 years of service. Since arriving in February 1847 his leadership expanded the city’s population and tax base while earning praise as a visionary, stimulating thinker, and trusted community partner. King, 72, will remain in the area with his wife Dorothy Chaplin and their three daughters Frances, Linda, and Nancy. A successor will be chosen, with the chamber needing fresh ideas and a compatible partner to continue the partnership with local business.

Beef price controls raise costs for consumers

The Nixon administration moves to lift beef price ceilings early and implement new food price controls starting Monday. Automakers may raise prices and grocers pass higher costs to shoppers. Nixon to Relax Air Rules to Ease Energy Shortage
