Superintendent Morris announced to Desire Valley Chamber of Commerce that the Valley elementary district will acquire eight sites across Castro Valley and nearby areas for four new schools. 3000 Tavern Fire Damage

Fire gutted the rear of the Perpala tavern at 61a Watliis shreed in Hayward early this morning. Fire Chief Louis Silver reported heavy smoke and water damage to the tavern owned by Jack Y. Schwertz. Fire started in the kitchen supply area. damage extended to the front. An alarm was sounded by Peter Lojo. Two ducks and six men responded, with eight more firefighters later dispatched. Damages to stock and equipment not yet estimated.

Flying Kilroys Off To Fair Saturday

The Flying Kilroys will leave Saturday at 6 am for Sacramento to attend the State fair. Kilroy Itstrom plans to enter the model airplane contest with 24 planes. Harold Lavick and Hayward store will cover expenses. Lee Cormwell and M Headducks will drive the truck and assist at the fair. They will bring sleeping bags for Saturday night.

Bus service from Hayward to Goxtra Valley on the new Hays wird Bus Lines begins Monday September 26 with 30 to 45 minute intervals, averaging one hour for a complete round trip.
