Toy show turns Cow Palace into giant toy store

San Leandro inventor Stuart Kornbluth plans a three day toy show at San Francisco's Cow Palace September 10 to 12. The event features 20 exhibitors including waterbeds model railroads and toys for all ages with a five thousand dollar toy airplane and entry for adults at children's prices. He partners with Ed Busch and Yvonne Moulton to produce the public sale aimed at taking toys to their ultimate step.

Gasoline trees eyed by Nobel chemist Calvin in California

Nobel laureate Melvin Calvin proposed planting “gasoline trees” in arid Southern California to produce fuel from plants such as Renus euphorbia and rubber trees. He cited potential yields of about 25 barrels per acre per year and discussed reducing hydrocarbon molecular weight to create a viable fuel source.
