Russell Burton Clark a 12 or 13 year old from Niles died after a single shot rifle discharged in a Los Gatos area cabin. Sheriff reports the shot occurred around 9 pm while Clark and two companions were nearby. he died next morning in San Jose hospital.
New Delhi reports say Defense Minister V. K. Krishna Menon and India's service chiefs resigned amid internal dissension. Fresh Chinese buildup along the northern frontier prompted the turmoil as Nehru prepared to address Parliament with an announcement planned for Wednesday.
A night crash on the freeway near Tennyson Road left multiple injured as Mrs. Vista and a child perished in a collision that involved a tractor trailer loaded with pears. A car carrying three Ft Ord soldiers careened off a curve Monday night, tumbling down a 20 foot embankment near Santa Cruz. J. Robert Garcia 22 of Alvin Texas and Ronald Orin Nicholson 120 of San Francisco were killed. A third soldier was rescued seriously injured from the wreckage.

Deputy District Attorney Thomas Buckley stated no evidence of felonious crime or willful public official wrongdoing was found, leaving complaints outside the grand jury’s scope.
AP reports a fund of $125,543 was raised to aid dependents of six men who died in a gasoline fire on August 8 and others injured. Five of the dead were firemen, the sixth a truck driver, Francis J. Toomes, who helped during the blaze.
