Star player Hands tough to beat in Colorado flag football
Laura Browne, a 16 year old from Miami, becomes starting end for Lakewood Asthmanauts in Lakewood Colorado, the only girl in the eight man flag football league. She earned the nickname Hands for blocking onto the ball as asthma patients compete with normal opponents. The team, coached by Rusty Warner, has a history of success with seven straight league titles through 1972 and a near perfect 46-1/47 record. The Children’s Asthma Research Institute and Hospital supports the players who battle asthma while playing through CARIB.
