Bay Area Storm Triggers Floods And Outages
The first major winter storm drenched parts of South County with over an inch of rain, causing flooding and widespread power and phone outages across the Bay Area. PG&E reported 20 000 customers without power at peak, with Fremont hardest hit. Wet cables disrupted telephone service in San Leandro and Livermore, while Pleasanton recorded 1.05 inches of rain and several flooded streets. A system over the Pacific was driving winds, but officials expect conditions to ease as it moves away.
