Wreck Kills Man and Injures 14 in Alameda County
A Santa Clara man, Donald Albert Coe, 23, died when his car hit a truck at about 1 a.m. in Alameda County. Passenger Ann Hofer, 21, was hospitalized with a compound fracture and shock. Truck driver James Monroy, 50, of Modesto, was uninjured. Hofer, a Savoy House State College student, was moved to Highland Hospital in fair condition. Another crash in Dublin Canyon injured Jack T. Bill, 46, and a Richmond trio suffered minor injuries in a separate collision near Vasco Road. A third incident near the Highway 0 and 7010th avenue junction hospitalized several others with minor injuries.
