War buddy helps ex-Marine surrender after nine-hour siege
In Kings Beach California an ex Marine named Ken Meller held three hostages during a nine hour Lake Tahoe resort siege. Federal agent Larry Clendinen, a Vietnam veteran, persuaded him to surrender. The hostages were released safely including Bob Berry who watched the World Series during talks. Meller, 34, is jailed for kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon.
