William R. Michie a 41 year old cannery foreman remained in critical condition at Highland hospital after being shot in the stomach during an argument with his estranged wife. Police said both fired an 88 caliber bullet as their separation ended in violence. Mrs Michie told investigators she obtained the gun after learning he planned to return home. Their two children were nearby during the shooting. She was held on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
