Three Oakland teenagers were killed and a 14 year old girl survived with both legs broken after a car went out of control in the Santa Cruz mountains. Victims were C V Frost 19 James Reed 19 and Sheila Castile 38. Nora Jackson 14 was the sole survivor with serious injuries.
Nevada gaming authorities received a formal note from Frank Sinatra's attorney asking that the state strip his Nevada gaming license. The request follows attorney Harry Claiborne's announcement that Sinatra would not fight. The Gaming Control Board alleges a Chicago underworld figure was his guest at Sinatra's Lake Tahoe casino, a license revocation offense. a deadline to sell his gaming stock may be set when the commission meets October 2.

Fresno 22 year old Gerald Channel died from head injuries and stab wounds, according to an autopsy. Toe Lopez 18, Fresno, was booked on assault with a deadly weapon after a fight at the Fresno District Fair. Investigation continues to determine charges.

Officials cautioned no dramatic shift in Kennedy administration plans, with talks focusing on clearing misunderstandings and avoiding dependency on others.
