Two massage parlors close in Fremont
Fremont officials move to curb illicit sex work as a nuisance suit targets nine parlors. Two venues, Exclusive Massage Studio on Washington Boulevard and the Lion's Den on Bay Street, reportedly closed under owner pressure amid mounting city pressure and a hearing slated today. A third parlor, Ruby's Spa on Washington Boulevard, reported uncertainty about its future as owners vow to fight to stay open. The suit follows a yearlong probe by volunteer agents who gathered evidence of sexual activity at several parlors using public funds. Carter called the statement ridiculous and urged Ford to stay in the White House to avoid public embarrassment. Ford defended U S policy as opposing domination and supporting peaceful steps to bolster independence in Eastern Europe while building ties with the West. Soviet forces in Europe were reported to include 16 tank divisions plus four more divisions, totaling over 9,000 medium and heavy tanks, with additional tank units deployed in the USSR.
