Driver Arrested In Fatal Hayward Bicycle Crash

A pickup driver, Louis J. Pacheco, 25, was arrested on a felony manslaughter investigation after a nine year old Hayward boy, Gary Cure, was struck and killed near Sycamore and Alves. The driver returned to the scene after an all-points bulletin, reportedly said he was intoxicated, and witnesses described high speed before the crash. The boy, son of Eva Cure, died at Levine hospital. funeral services are pending.
