Fremont planning commissioners voted to recommended expansion of the central business district for a 30 acre site bounded by Fremont Boulevard Argonaut Way and Hub shopping center Santa Anita Development Corp of San Diego would add a department store supermarket a nursery and several small shops. The panel also backed the Centerville Area Plan calling for a regional aquatic park and a Fremont Boulevard Maple Street two lane coupling to ease Centerville traffic with the plan now going to the city council

Right to die bill signed by Brown in California

Gov. Edisund G. Brown II signed the first of its kind law allowing terminally ill patients to withhold or withdraw life sustaining care via a living will. The measure, prompted by the Karen Ann Quinlan case, permits a written directive by a person over 10 to guide doctors, witnessed by two, renewed every five years and protects physicians who follow it.
