Quiet end to tense Fremont siege at mobile home
In Fremont a 2% hour standoff at Southlake Mobile Home Park ended after tear gas and a police push forced William M. Cowie 25 to surrender. Police said he had fired randomly after a Thanksgiving night fight with family and girlfriend left him distraught. No one hurt as residents watched and crews attended.

Two Butte College students rescued after five-day search
