Denver teachers strike mediation committee formed

A three member school mediation committee was created in Denver by Mayor Bill McNichols to end the two week teachers strike. Chancellor Maurice Mitchell of the University of Denver will lead the panel after an 80 minute meeting with DCTA negotiators. The board of education declined to have McNichols participate officially. DCTA seeks 7 000 to 14 000 for beginners to top salaries, while the board offers 7 000 to 15 000.
