Toll plan questioned as fair share debate heats up
City Councilman Don Dillon questioned a proposed toll rise to 1 on the Dumbarton Hayward San Mateo and Oakland San Francisco bridges to fund Bay Area transit. Eden board deadlocked over vacancy on hospital board
Eden Hospital trustees failed to agree on appointee to fill the vacancy created by the death of Dr. Miller Thornburg. If no appointment is made by December 7, Alameda County Supervisors take action and a special election could cost the district up to 28001. The process shifts to the supervisors if the deadline passes.

Wrong man held in nursing home slaying case
In Castro Valley, a suspect arrested Sunday in the slaying of an eight year old resident at a convalescent hospital was cleared after a hospital lineup. Jerry W. Hernandez, of Grove Way, was released when staff identified the correct man wandering the hospital at the time. Estelle Pike, possibly from Michigan, was found gasping for air by hospital personnel shortly after 1:90 a.m. Sunday.

The giant figure weighs about 200 pounds and is described as the world s largest rag doll with yarn hair fabric dress sheets for an apron and pantaloons and hundreds of pounds of polyester filling.

Bomb threat at Top of the Mark on Hearst visit
Patricia Hearst and entourage visited the Top of the Mark atop the Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill after her release. A caller claimed SLA ties and warned of a bomb as police and security monitored the scene. no device was found after a hotel sweep. A later call again threatened bombing the hotel.
