Five Trapped Workers Rescued From Cement Collapse
In Cupertino California workers pulled five laborers from under tons of wet cement after a pedestrian walkway at Valley Fashion Center collapsed. The five were rushed to a hospital with no serious injuries. A cement truck driver heard a rumbling as beams cracked and warned others, rescuing most before further collapse.

Generalissimo Francisco Franco suffered a sudden relapse of internal bleeding and underwent emergency surgery for the third time in IT days. A post operative communique said he came out of the two hour operation in the gravest condition as bleeding continued under sedation. Doctors reported brain activity but machines kept his body functioning. The bleeding was from a perforated intestine and from stitches from a prior surgery on November 7. Earlier today his heart stopped but was revived by massage. The first operation was November 3 and the second four days later. The relapse occurred on the 23rd day of his 82 year life battle.

Portuguese leader freed after 36 hour siege in Lisbon
Thousands of Communist led workers freed Prime Minister Jose Pinheira de Azevedo as they won higher wages raising journeyman construction pay from 265 to 48 a month. Azevedo refused to fire the Labor Minister and an investigation was ordered. About 20,000 demonstrators surrounded the Sao Bento Palace while in Oporto around 1000 protested and marched toward Lisbon.
